Granite
Granite is the most useful and durable material for hard wearing work surfaces. Whether you are remodeling your existing kitchen or designing a new interior, granite is an ideal solution for a hard wearing, attractive and durable work surface.
Care and Maintenance
One of the most damaging factors in a kitchen is heat. many work surfaces and counter tops melt, discolour or bubble with direct and indirect exposure to heat.
Granite, Marble and other stone compounds have a high resistance to heat damage.
Granite is naturally formed by volcanic activity and therefore being created under extreme temperatures is a natural solution to the problem of damage caused to work surfaces in the kitchen.
As with any natural product each piece of stone will be individual and therefore it is important to ensure that the stone that you choose is of the highest quality, ensuring a regularity of pattern and standard of the product.
Due to the granular construction, granite is porous to some degree and the lighten the granite in general the more porous it is. Therefore all our granite is treated at the factory with a proprietary sealer and this ensures that stains are kept to a minimum.
Upstands
These are normally no more than a meter in length and can vary in thickness from 20-30mm and be of a maximum height of 75mm. the variation of thickness of the upstands affects the shade of the stone therefore our granite and silestone specialists will be happy to advise on the thickness of the upstands and provide samples to compare the colour differentiation. Windowsills and plinths are also available in stone so that the finishing touches can be added to your kitchen.
